The ones you know will be that little old couple you see at the park, still holding hands after 50 years. It’s those couples we are talking about this week.

 Excerpt:                    Law & Order Crime & Chaos - Always Cambridge Four

Jeans and a hoody never looked so fuckin’ good. I worked my way around the massive desk as she eased the hood from her head, uncovering shoulder length blonde hair. “Holly,” I whispered her name, almost afraid if I spoke it she would disappear in a cloud of smoke. Just my imagination playing tricks on me. Another dream I was going to wake up from. But she was still there, and she was real, and it happened just like every other time we locked eyes across a room.
 
She made a little noise in the back of her throat that went straight to my groin. She ran at me and I caught her up in my arms. She wound her legs around my waist, just like she so often had in the past, and my body roared to life just as it always did.
 
“Oh, baby. Ahhh, Holly.” I breathed into her hair. And then I inhaled deeply, filling my nostrils with her familiar scent.
 
She eased her grip on my neck and leaned back to look at me. I looked into her incredible glistening green eyes. She was close to tears. She bit her lip in that oh so sexy way. I eased my hips onto the desk, so I could hold her and touch her at the same time.
 
“What are you doing here?” I asked, my voice not above a harsh whisper. I was excited to see her but afraid as well. I knew she wouldn’t risk this unless it was bad.
 
She didn’t speak. Her breathing was shallow, fanning out across my jaw. Her hungry gaze roamed over my face. Her fingers traced the same path. With her thumb she lined my bottom lip right before her lips met mine. It started out soft, timid, because of our time apart. A kiss that just conveyed how much we’d missed each other and how wonderful it felt to know we were both still alive.
 

And then it turned hot, ravenous, probably ugly, but it felt fuckin’ good. We were starving for each other. Mourning the loss. Missing one another. I guess it would never matter how much time passed between us. It would always be this way for us. I grabbed the back of her head and I devoured her mouth. I shifted on the desk, thrusting my hips into her. Letting her know I wanted her. She whimpered into my mouth. I always knew when she made that sound she would surrender to me if it was what I wanted. I knew I could lay her out on this desk and do whatever I wanted and she wouldn’t stop me. I fought with my conscience. Randy would kill me. I tried to keep my mind on that thought when she took over the kiss, sliding her tongue over mine. Her legs tightened around my back and she used her amazing flexibility to ride me. I groaned at the contact of her heat. She wanted me, too.

She has led a life full of violence and horror, rejection and betrayal. Yet she remains positive. A bas la tristesse seems to be her motto. That's what I liked so much about her. Her fight to live, her proactive handling of her life and her fierce independence. She has dignity and integrity but she is not a goody two shoes. She is just an amazing character to follow and I can't wait to see where her story is going in the following books of the series.
