Release Blitz + #Giveaway Eight Days in the Sun - MK Schiller @MKSchiller Contemporary Romance

Title: Eight Days in the Sun
Author: MK Schiller
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Kensington
Hosted by: Lady Amber's PR

Blurb:

Love needs only one chance to shine . . .

He followed in his family’s footsteps and just graduated Marine boot camp. Now Mason Cutler’s personal mission is to get plenty of sun, surf, and no-strings romance in his favorite laid-back Florida beach town before shipping out. But a chance encounter with reserved Kiran Shenoy becomes a golden day of conversation, connection—and an intense attraction Mason can't walk away from. They make an agreement—eight sensuous days together without regrets or promises. Yet soon Mason is longing to convince the spirited woman behind Kiran's sad beautiful eyes to take a chance on even more . . .

All Kiran dared hope for was a chance to heal after a tragic accident and a devastating loss. Mason's freewheeling energy and head-on courage warms her scarred body and soul—and ignites her heart. But with their lives going in different directions, the only commitment they can make is a pact to meet again. Can what they feel survive Mason’s military duty, and Kiran’s second chance to restart her life? And can a desire sparked one summer night be enough for forever?

MK Schiller is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. In the dark of night, she sits by the warm glow of her computer monitor, reading or writing, usually with some tasty Italian…the food that is! She started imagining stories in her head at a very young age. In fact, she got so good at it that friends asked her to create plots featuring them as the heroine and the object of their affection as the hero. She hopes you enjoy her stories and find The Happily Ever After in every endeavor. M.K. Schiller loves hearing from readers. Mason takes a step toward me. I follow suit. Only a sliver of air is between us. The wind picks up and causes an annoying strand of hair to brush against my face. I think he’s going to tuck it behind my ear. Instead, he unclips my barrette. With a hand on each side of my face, he kisses my forehead. The kiss is tender and pure. His hands slide lower until his fingers fiddle with the bottom button of my shirt. Seeking permission, he gives me an assessing look. I nod.

He undoes the button. Then a second, and then a third. His fingers shake, or maybe that’s my body reacting. I never imagined being comfortable enough with anyone to expose myself. I can count the days I’ve known Mason Cutler on one hand. Yet there is a freedom between us I’ve never experienced with anyone else.

He gently pushes the fabric off my shoulders. It flutters away. My breasts heave in the simple white bra I’m wearing. He gazes at my body.

“You’re beautiful, Kiran.”

His fingers ghost over my skin. They slide along the biggest and ugliest of all my scars. A long, straight line that runs down my stomach.

“This is surgical?” he asks, not taking his eyes off it.

“Yes. They filleted me like a fish.”

He falls to his knees before me. He kisses that spot. Once. Twice. Three times. My legs shake, but not from any kind of pain. He grips the button on my jeans. Before he undoes it, he looks up, seeking permission once again.

“Take them off, Mason.”

They fall to the ground. Besides my panties and bra, I’m naked. Naked and not afraid for once. He stands. He places a finger under my chin and tilts my face until our eyes meet.

“Ready for that swim?”

“Yes.”

He takes my hand and leads me into the water. It’s chillier than I thought. But it could have been arctic, and I wouldn’t mind. The waves crash against us, threatening to push me to the ground. Mason holds me tight. The water comes over my waist. It’s dark and cool. Maybe it even breaks my self-imposed shackles. The moon is vibrant against the water as if the two are kissing.

When the water reaches just below my chest, we stop. I turn to him. He smiles softly. This time, he does tuck the strand of hair behind my ear.
I place a hand on each of his hips.

“One day we’ll go surfing together,” he whispers.

“I’d like that.”

“One day I’ll take you to the revolving restaurant on top of the Wilshire, and we’ll have ourselves a nice dance.”

“I’d like that too.”

“And one day, I’m going to kiss you under a full moon.”

“Make that day today, Mason.”

TIN MAN
S DANCE (A New Adult Novella)
By MK Schiller

The one time Lilly Franklin decides to reward herself with tickets to her favorite indie artist
s concert, there is a seat mix-up. Not to mention the tall, cocky boy who claims her front-row seat is all wicked smiles, long legs and tug-worthy hair. Lilly quickly decides this boy is messing with the wrong girl. But as the night wears on, Lily starts to see a softer side of former marine, James “Hutch” Hutchinson. A side that makes her shed her loner inhibitions along with her clothes.

There is a difference between trouble and troubled, but Hutch is both.

Hutch lost more than a leg in the Iraqi dessert. Returning to school on the GI Bill wasn
t exactly in the plans…but plans change. Now he only wants to meet the dancer he saw at the recitals his roommate dragged him to, but hes forgotten how to talk to women, especially a woman as graceful as Lilly. So armed with a plan that even a twelve-years-old would laugh at, James steals Lillys seat.

Only fair since she stole his heart first.

But Lilly has plans, too. As if Hutch
s life wasnt already a sh*t storm of sacrifice. Now, he has to give up the one thing he cant get enough of.

Teaser :
“My mother always said ‘Its never too late to start something as long as you intend to finish it.’”

“That’s good advice.”

My mom had an expression too: Sometimes you find trouble, and sometimes you find troubled. It takes a smart woman to know the difference. Clearly, in James Hutchinson I had found both.

Excerpt from Tin Mans Dance

“There’s a field not far from here. We could have a picnic. You should see the flowers that bloom there.” I bit my lip because he would see them next year. I wouldnt. I kept going, my breaths materializing physically in the cool air.

“There are roses and hydrangeas and…”

 “Lilies? Are there lilies?”

“Stargazer lilies. Do you know what those are?”

 He shook his head.

“They look like pink stars bursting open. Theyre lovely.”

 “Are they tall?”

I tilted my head back, eyeing him curiously. “Not really. Why do you ask?”

“Cause I want to know if we can f*ck in that field without being found out.”

I spun around, facing him. He feigned an innocent look while I stabbed my finger against his chest. “I cant believe you transformed my beautiful fantasy into soft-core porn.”

James leaned his forehead against mine, his mischievous smirk causing my panties to dampen. “There is nothing soft-core about me. Besides, your fantasy was making me grow a vagina.”

I stared at him for a second before breaking out into a full-on laugh attack. I think we laughed hard enough to wake the sun back up.

His hand shifted to my lower back. He bent his mouth close to my ear. “I dont know a damn thing about flowers, but I can tell you without a doubt there is no lovelier Lilly than the one Im holding.”

 Okay…so that just happened.

TIN MAN'S DANCE (A New Adult Novella) by MK Schiller
If he only had a heart...

Former marine James Hutchinson thought they might have amputated his heart right along with his right leg. That is, until he sees Lilly Franklin dance. In a crazy ploy to meet her, he steals her front row concert seat... but it’s only fair since she stole his heart first.

 My Review

Recommended Read! 5 Stars

A chance dance recital, a meddling brother and lust at first sight; a perfect twist(er) in MK Schiller’s contribution to the Falling Hard Anthology.

Dancer Lilly Franklin and wounded warrior James Hutchinson’s first meeting, reads like a fairy tale, though neither of their lives has been easy.

But tough choices need to be made in the midst of their whirlwind romance.

Will Lilly leave Hutch hollow-chested once more?

Will the former soldier stay true to form and sacrifice his heart to let Lilly follow her dream? And will she find out too late, there's no place like home?

A lot of story and character development for a novella, almost reads like a full length novel. Although I wish it was because I wouldn’t have minded spending some more time with Lilly and James.

I enjoyed Tin Man’s Dance so much I hope there’s a sequel in the works for Hutch’s brother, up-and-comer indie artist, Colton Keyes!
(perhaps trying to find time in his busy concert schedule to fit in Lilly and James’ wedding?) :D

I received an ARC of Tin Man’s Dance for review

A Girl By Any Other Name @MKSchiller @Totally_Bound

Please welcome fellow Totally Bound author MK Schiller...

What was your favourite book as a child/teenager?

I loved VC Andrews books – her novels was dark, addicting and sweet at the same time.

Who was the first author or what was the first book you read that introduced you to the genre that you most enjoy writing in?

I have to give props to EL James. I never thought I’d like a man with BDSM desires and mommy issues, but yep, I sure as heck fell in love with him.

Do you believe in love at first sight? And if so have you ever been so afflicted? Did you do anything about it? (Did you go for it?)

I think of it more as interest at first sight. Love at first sight has too much emphasis in the physical. I want to lust someone’s body but fall in love with their mind.

Is there a particular word you overuse or writing technique that your editor(s) ride you about?

Penetrating…lol.

Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? (Or do you even believe in it?) If so, how were you able to overcome it?

Yes, I get blocked, but I usually take a break and read or watch TV. Talking to someone about your book helps a great deal too.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Somewhere warm – we’re about to get an avalanche of snow so that’s my vote right now.

If you could bring one of your own characters to life, who would it be and why?

I think Dillon from The Other C-Word because he’s adorable, funny and a great best friend.

What are you reading right now?

Gabriel’s Redemption by Sylvain Reynard.

When you read, do you prefer a stand-alone or a series?

I prefer stand-alone or if it a series, one where each book has a conclusion.

If you were to do a reality show, which one would it be?

Big Brother – although I’d probably be awful at it. I love that it’s all mind games.

What is the craziest, most exciting, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?

Hmmm….I plead the 5th on this one. I was a wild child once upon a time, and I’m still wondering if that will catch up with me.  I will tell you I once out drank a biker in a dive bar when I was sixteen. I beat him shot for shot. I was very sick the next day, but hey, you don’t get bragging rights like that without any scars.  You know what they say – every bad decision becomes a good story.

Name a celebrity, athlete, musician, etc. you’d most like to get naughty with.

Chris Pine or Charlie Hunnam – both were muses for my books.

What is your favourite way to promote or connect with fans?

I like it when a fan reaches out to me or I’m able to comment on a review they have left. I like it to be a natural process.

Favourite movie?

Hard to say, but I do love 80’s teen angst dramas so The Breakfast Club, St Elmo’s fire, and Say Anything are tops on my list.

Dream Vacation?

A cruise somewhere tropical.

Dream Car?

1969 white Mustang Convertible.

Favourite Ice Cream Flavour?

Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey.

What can readers look forward to next?

I have a novella in Totally Bound’s Paramour collection. I’m excited to have my story featured with some very talented authors.

Please tell us about your newest release.

This is a story about secrets, childhood love, and a traumatic separation. The hero is a southern all around popular boy, Caleb Tanner. He has a big heart and a penchant for swearing. As a child of the 80’s, I added a few grand gestures, a rocking soundtrack, and a healthy heaping of angst.

Blurb –

Everyone tells him he needs to move on, but how can a man function without his heart?

Ten-year-old Caleb Tanner wants nothing to do with Sylvie Cranston, the annoying weird girl who moves next door to him and gets him in trouble for swearing. But at twelve, they become friends when he teaches her how to hook a fishing line and she shows him the value of a selfless act. At fourteen, he falls in love with her.

At sixteen, she dies.

Or so he’s told. But Cal never believes it. Sylvie has become part of his soul. He knows her like the steady beating of his own heart. He’d know if she was dead. Cal looks for her, prays for her and finally he just waits for her.

Nine years later, she walks into the community college English class Cal is teaching. Only this girl claims her name is Sophie Becker and she doesn’t know him. Cal knows better. He’s determined to get the girl he loves back—and protect her from the danger that took her away all those years ago.

Genre: Contemporary suspense romance
EXCERPT :

The worst part of being a kid was that you never knew how good you had it until it was too late.

Childhood was simple. My parents told me it was because I didn’t have bills to pay or mouths to feed, but it was more than that. It was because nothing was planned. When you didn’t plan for it, you didn’t worry about the consequences. They just happened naturally without the coercion, manipulation or mindfuck games that came with becoming an adult.

I never planned for Sylvie Cranston to be my best friend. I never expected her to be the muse in all my dreams, or the girl who later haunted my nightmares. I certainly never planned to fall in love with her, but that was exactly what happened.

Everyone told me I needed to move on. That was like asking me to pierce my own flesh and crush my empty, beating heart. They wanted me to toss it away and continue to breathe. How could a man function without his heart?

MK Schiller is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. Writing is her passion, but with a full time life and two busy teenagers, it proves difficult. But in the quiet dark of night, she sits by the warm glow of a computer monitor, and attempt to conjure up passionate heartwarming stories with plenty of humour.

She started imagining stories in her head at a very young age. In fact, friends started making requests for stories where they were featured as the heroine and the object of their affection was the hero. You've heard of fan fiction... this was friend fiction.

Even with that, it took many years to realize her dream. She hopes you enjoy my stories and always find The Happily Ever After in every endeavor.
