#NewRelease from @noellekeaton Secrets with the Billionaire #mmromance

Please welcome back multi-published, best selling author
with her latest release at Evernight Publishing

Hi H K, thanks so much for having me back to your blog!  I always enjoy coming to Pick A Genre Already because this is one of the first places I did promo and it remains one of my favorite blogs.  Today I’m sharing an excerpt from my new e-book, Secrets with the Billionaire, where journalist Tim McInerny and billionaire Connor Albright discover that their interest in each other goes far beyond the typical interviewer/interviewee dynamic.

BLURB:

While vacationing on an island resort, ambitious news reporter Tim McInerny is surprised to see the reclusive techie billionaire, Connor Albright. It's clear from Connor's appearance that he's been ill, but Tim approaches him anyway, making clear that he'll write a story with or without Connor's cooperation. Still recovering from a heart attack and quintuple bypass surgery, Connor reluctantly agrees to the interview despite his fear the interview will wreck his corporation’s plans for the acquisition of an internet start-up.

Though they each have their own agenda, it isn't long before professional considerations are thrown aside and Tim and Connor give in to their passion for each other. But their new relationship is threatened when Tim learns that his interview won't be published and that Connor knew about it all along. Both men are forced to choose which takes priority: their careers or their burgeoning relationship.

EXCERPT:

Connor pulled Tim to his feet, and they kissed again, this time gentle and tender. Without breaking contact, he led Tim to the bedroom, each of them tugging and pulling at the other’s clothes until they were both naked by the time they arrived.

Tim’s body was just as perfect as he’d imagined, with tanned, muscular biceps, pecs, and glutes that seemed to radiate health and earthy sensuality. Connor stared down at his own thin limbs and pale skin, which made the redness of the scar marking the incision from the quadruple bypass stand out all the more. He’d been applying a vitamin E cream to help it blend in with the rest of his skin tone, but so far, it remained an ugly, vivid reminder of his illness.

As if reading his mind, Tim touched his chest, lightly fingering the scar. “Don’t be self-conscious. Think of it as a medal of honor, showing how you triumphed over the heart attack.”

“It’s one honor I wish I hadn’t earned, although I should have seen it coming. My grandfather died of a heart attack in his forties, and my father had three of them by the time he was in his fifties.”

Why the hell did I tell him that? Connor wondered, but Tim’s face brightened, as if appreciating the candor and honesty.

“So, it’s a hereditary thing? Are you scared you’ll have another heart attack?”

The questions reminded Connor that Tim was a journalist and he needed to be careful of what he said. However, the time for caution had come and gone. There was nothing left to do now except complete the sexual journey they’d started.

Again, thanks so much H K for having me guest post and I hope all your readers enjoy Secrets With The Billionaire as much as I enjoyed writing it.

A NEW and Bestselling Release from Noelle Keaton The Billionaire’s Network @noellekeaton #mmromance

Please welcome back my friend and fellow author Noelle Keaton, with her latest and bestselling release, The Billionaire's Network!

Thanks H K for having me back to Pick A Genre Already to share….

My Billionaire Obsession

Okay, obsession might be going a bit far in describing how I feel about billionaires.  However, after writing seven different stories featuring billionaires as the heroes, there’s no denying that my interest in them is more than casual.  I attribute my fascination to a couple of things.

Billionaires have a certain mystique about them.  To me, they always appear powerful and in control, seemingly untouchable.  That’s why it is fun to create stories that speculate as to what goes on behind the cool, calm, and collected surface.

I also find myself wondering what kinds of problems billionaires would have amidst their endless wealth.  What kind of problems could a person have when they have enough money to buy anything their heart desired?  Well, the search for love, problems of miscommunication, and the desire to find a soul mate are common themes and goals in the lives of people from each end of the economic strata as well as those in between.  It’s just that these struggles among the billionaire set happen to intrigue me enough to keep writing stories about them.  J

I hope you enjoy the excerpt from my latest e-book, The Billionaire’s Network, which is available at the Evernight Publishing and Amazon.

The Billionaire’s Network EXCERPT:

“We can’t do this,” Wes said moments before Rick’s lips brushed against his. While only the briefest of contacts, the mere touch sent sparks shooting through Wes that went straight to his dick, which started to throb.

“We’re not doing anything except getting reacquainted.”

Rick’s hand moved from Wes’ shoulder to a caress down his back, and rested near his tailbone. The motion sent an involuntary shudder down Wes’ spine, and he took another step back again.

“The situation is complicated enough with you buying NBS, which makes me your employee. I don’t think we should mess things up further by trying to pick up where we left off fifteen years ago. It would be a train wreck in the making.” Wes realized he was speaking too fast, and not making much sense. But he wanted to stay ahead of his own desires, which were demanding that he strip off his clothes and hop into the nearest bed with Rick.

“My owning NBS has nothing to do with what’s going on between us here and now, except that it brought us to this place here and now. If you don’t want anything to happen between us, that’s fine, but don’t use NBS as an excuse. Just tell me what you’re truly feeling, and we’ll figure out where to go from there.”

You make it sound so simple, Wes wanted to tell him. But then, nothing had ever been easy between them and he had no right to believe that would have changed all these years later. Underlying all their conflicts, a heated desire and yearning for each other always lingered. It was the reason he’d never been able to forget Rick, and why he found it impossible to walk away now.

Blurb:

No one is more surprised than network news anchor Wes Henley when his ex-boyfriend, media mogul and billionaire Rick Sheridan, buys the network where he works. Though it’s been fifteen years since their bitter breakup, it isn’t long before Wes and Rick rediscover their former passion for each other.

But their burgeoning relationship is threatened when Rick’s plans for the network tests Wes’ loyalty to his newsroom colleagues. Wes is forced to decide whether his love for Rick and hopes for their future together outweigh his dedication to his job and allegiance to his coworkers.

Chemistry With The Billionaire by @noellekeaton

Please welcome back my friend, author Noelle Keaton who recently cracked the top ten on the ARe Best Sellers List with her latest release Chemistry With The Billionaire from Evernight Publishing...

Hi H K!  Thanks so much for welcoming me back to Pick A Genre Already.  While I want to share an excerpt from my latest e-book, Chemistry With The Billionaire, I also wanted to talk a little about the differences between writing for anthologies and writing stand alone short stories.

Writing Anthology vs. Stand Alone Stories

When I decided to jump start my writing career last year, at first I had no idea how to do it.  A few years before, Id written short stories, the confessional kind you find in True Stories magazines.  I stopped to focus on writing a novel, but after multiple attempts with little to show for it, I decided to return to my short story roots.  However, the company that used to publish my stories had gone out of business, so I did research to try to find who or what had taken their place.  Thats when I discovered e-publishers, especially ones that had submissions calls for anthologies, were an option.

There were so many writing opportunities that I had a hard time deciding which ones to pursue.  Thats when I started to realize that I would be able to continue to write short stories, but that in submitting to anthologies, I wouldnt necessarily get to choose the theme of my story or the types of characters I wanted to write about.  For me, this is the biggest difference between anthology calls and stand alone stories, limitations on the type of story you want to tell.

This doesnt bother me because usually the anthology submissions calls are sufficiently broad enough that I can still come up a story that I want to tell within the parameters that have been outlined.  Usually submissions calls ask for stories involving a profession, like policemen or paramedics, or they could center on a theme, like stories involving ménages or BDSM.  These themes are broad enough where a writer can take on just about any genre, from comedy to suspense.  More often than not, looking over the submissions calls for an e-publisher can spark the inspiration for a story.

On many e-publisher sites, youll see encouragement to submit to an anthology in order to get your foot in the door of their company.  This allows the e-publisher not only to get to know you,  but so you can get to know the e-publisher and see if their contracts, editors, marketing efforts, etc. fit with the expectations and goals your have for your writing career.  And speaking of writing careers, both anthology submissions and short stories are great ways to build your back lists.  You really cant go wrong which ever route you decide to pursue.

Chemistry With The Billionaire

When Sam Yates meets Elliot at a Harwin Biotechnologies office party, he can hardly believe the tanned and muscular Adonis is interested in a nerdy scientist like himself. However, the attraction between the two men is immediate and it doesn’t take them long to act on it. It is only the next morning that Sam realizes that he’s just slept with Elliot Harwin—the company president.

The revelation leaves Sam uneasy and afraid it will look like he's trying to sleep his way up the corporate ladder. But Elliot helps him to put aside these reservations, and it isn’t long before Sam achieves the professional success and personal fulfillment he has long sought. But this newfound happiness is threatened when a jealous co-worker tells Sam that he's not the first employee with whom Elliot has been involved. With his career and love life at stake, Sam starts to wonder whether the foundation he and Elliot have constructed has been built on lies.

Excerpt:

Thats it!” Sam snapped his fingers. “Phillip Harwin, the CEO and chairman of Harwin Biotechnologies. But what is he doing here with you?” The light bulb finally clicked on and embarrassed that he hadnt caught on sooner swamped him. “Youre Elliot Harwin, the president of the company.”

Guilty.” Elliot smiled, but he looked as uneasy as Sam felt.

You didnt think this was worth mentioning last night?”

I know I should have, but things happened so fast that I never really got the chance.”

Sam conceded that things did go pretty fast last night. There really wasnt time for an Im-the-president-of-your-company conversation. And to be totally honest, conversation of any kind had been the last thing on his mind last night after meeting Elliot. But that was last night, and this morning was another matter entirely.

I better get dressed, I have to get going.” Sam rushed past Elliot, eager to get back to the bedroom and find his clothes so he could leave and put this awkward situation behind him. Hed pulled on his pants and almost finished buttoning his shirt by the time Elliot re-entered the room.

Im not your direct supervisor, so this really isnt as bad as youre making it out to be.”

Is that a line you tell all the other Harwin Biotechnologies employees you sleep with to make them feel better?” Elliots face went slack, like hed been slapped, and Sam regretted the harsh words. “Hey, look, Im sorry, that was completely out of line.”

Elliot nodded. “It was, but I guess I asked for it by not coming completely clean with you last night. For the record, Ive never done anything like this before. Ive been so busy getting the company back on track after three straight years of decreasing sales and lost market share that I havent had much of a social life. I guess thats why when things clicked between us, I didnt want to risk telling you who I was and messing things up because it had been so long since I felt that way.”

Same here,” Sam said, recognizing the similarities between Elliots story and his own. “I wanted you so badly last night that Im not sure your telling me who you were would have made a difference because I havent been that attracted to anyone in years.”

Elliot smiled and walked over to Sam so that they were only inches apart. “So, does this mean I can talk you out of rushing out of here?”

Depends on what you have in mind.” Sams breath quickened as Elliot unbuttoned his shirt and ground a burgeoning erection against his crotch.

Something thats going to get the day started a whole lot better for the both of us.”

Welcome Back Author Noelle Keaton + a Giveaway @noellekeaton #erotic #romance #m/m

It is my pleasure to welcome back fellow Total-E-Bound author Noelle Keaton.  She's sharing an excerpt from her debut erotic m/m romance Trusting The ER Doctor part of Total-E-Bound's Emergency Servicing Anthology. She's even giving away a copy to one lucky commenter.

Pick A Genre Already :  Guest Blogger Noelle Keaton

The release this week of Trusting The ER Doctor and the anthology Emergency Servicing, both from publisher Total-E-Bound, produced mixed emotions.  First and foremost, Im thrilled because I love writing and Im glad that I have a chance to share my stories with a wider audience than just family and friends.  However, Im a little scared too because now Im confronting the question:  Where do I go from here?

I think Ive answered that question in part by getting another story accepted for another Total-E-Bound anthology, Promoted By The Billionaire.  Two stories published means this writing thing isnt a fluke, right?  Im a full-fledged writer now, it means I have a plan and I know what to do next.  Yeah, right.  Although Ive finished the edits for the second story, Im still asking myself, Where do I go from here?

Ive been so focused on getting published for so long, now that its happened, I feel a little lost.  One of my favorite authors, Michael Connelly, guest starred on an episode of Castle and said this to a fellow writer whod just hit the bestseller list: “You know what I did after I wrote my first novel?  I shut up and I wrote twenty-three more.”  Thats probably the best advice that I and any other beginning writer can take.  Shut up and write.  Being the procrastinator that I am, this is easier said than done, but I think Ill make it my motto for the rest of the year.  Shut up and write.

Id like to give a special thank you to H K Carlton for not only hosting me here on her blog, but for all the support and encouragement  shes given me.  Id also like to thank all the readers and visitors of the blog, and to show my appreciation, Ill be giving away a free copy of Trusting the ER Doctor at random to a commenter who leaves contact information.  Good luck!

Trusting the ER Doctor

Blurb:

People trusted Kyle and Trent with their lives every day, surely the two men could entrust their hearts to each other.

After his last relationship resulted in a nasty break-up, the last thing emergency room physician Kyle Montgomery is looking for is another romance. Yet when he meets hunky paramedic Trent Jones, Kyle cannot deny the immediate attraction and undeniable spark between them. As their love develops, Kyle begins to put the past behind him and focus on his burgeoning relationship with Trent.

Trent, who has been drawn to Kyle ever since he first laid eyes on him, can hardly believe the handsome and sophisticated physician would give him a second glance, much less return his feelings. Coming from a modest background, Trent wonders if he’s in the same league as Kyle and if their relationship can go the distance.

When Kyle’s former lover surfaces with allegations that cause Trent to question Kyle’s true feelings and motivations, it is up to both men to take stock and decide whether theirs is a love worth fighting for, a love worth trusting in…

Excerpt: Trusting the ER Doctor

The snow still fell steadily, but fortunately it was only a light dusting, for which Kyle was grateful since it would make the drive home easier. He wasn’t due back at the hospital for another sixteen hours, and he planned to spend the bulk of it catching up on his sleep.

But his growling stomach reminded him he needed to take care of another priority before he hit the hay. He tried to think of what he had at home to eat, but could only remember seeing half a bottle of mayonnaise and a couple of dried-out oranges. A stop by McDonald’s then home, he decided.

Walking out through the ambulance bay to the lot where he’d parked, Kyle stopped when a man called out, “Hey, Doc, hold up!”

A grinning and slightly out of breath Trent ran to catch up to him. “Hey, I hoped I’d catch you before you left. I wanted to thank you again.”

“It’s not necessary, I’m glad I could help.”

“But I bet you wouldn’t say no to some Zorobos burgers.” Trent held up a large bag from the Greek diner located around the corner from the hospital. “I didn’t think you’d get a chance to eat during the rest of your shift after we left.”

“I didn’t,” Kyle admitted, eyeing the bag hungrily.

“You want to go back in and eat these in the break room?”

“Nah, I’ve seen enough of that place for the day.”

The look of disappointment that crossed Trent’s handsome face surprised Kyle. “Okay, well, why don’t you take this home with you? Two are feta burgers and the other two are regular cheeseburgers.”

Kyle took the bag, and, on impulse, said, “There’s no way I can eat four Zorobos burgers, even as hungry as I am. Why don’t you join me at my place and help me eat them?”

He instantly regretted the invitation, sure that he was making a fool of himself. But Trent’s face lit up and he nodded like the invitation was something he’d wanted or anticipated all along.

What are you doing? Kyle asked himself as he gave Trent directions to his condo, which was only a few miles from the hospital. Hadn’t he already learned his lesson about getting involved with someone at work? Dont shit where you eat was a motto that definitely applied.

But Trent didn’t work with him, not exactly. He was a paramedic who worked for a company contracted out to several Philadelphia area hospitals. If things didn’t work out between them, it wasn’t like Kyle would have to see Trent on a regular basis. Besides, there probably wasn’t going to wind up being anything to work out. This was just a couple of colleagues sharing some burgers. No big deal.

However, Kyle realised he was fooling himself the moment Trent stepped into his condo and took off his jacket, revealing a taut, muscular torso that was well-defined even underneath the navy paramedic uniform. In contrast, Kyle felt slouchy in his green scrubs and long-johns top, but he was grateful the baggy material hid the growing tightness he felt between his legs.

Gazing around at the glass and chrome minimalist décor, Trent seemed to take no notice of Kyle’s sudden arousal. “This place is nice. Really sophisticated.”

“Thanks, but I can’t take credit. It was an interior decorator’s doing,” Kyle said, deciding not to mention that nothing about the condo’s furnishings was really to his liking. His ex had insisted on decorating Kyle’s condo to his tastes, even though he’d had his own place. While they’d broken up several months ago, Kyle’s long hours at the hospital prevented him from making changes that were more his style.

“I’d like to make enough bucks to be able to hire a decorator,” Trent said, as Kyle went into the kitchen to get some plates. “I live in half a duplex that I share with Mia and Natalie. All we have are odds and ends from the Goodwill or donations from the church.”

“You like this? You can have it.” Kyle watched with amusement when Trent’s jaw dropped open in surprise.

“Have it? You’d give this stuff away? This living room alone looks like it cost a fortune—at least a year’s salary, maybe two.”

“I don’t know.” Kyle shrugged. He settled into a chair across from where Trent sat on the couch, taking a bite out of one of the feta burgers. Damn, it was good. “I didn’t pay for any of the furniture, so I have no idea what it’s worth. I didn’t choose it, either.”

“Leland Ackerman bought this for you? For the two of you to share when you moved here to be with him?”

Avoiding Trent’s intense blue-eyed gaze, Kyle focused on his burger. “There’s not much that’s private at Philadelphia General, huh?”

“Not really, especially when a good-looking doctor suddenly shows up. Everyone gets curious and wants to know what’s the deal.”

“Good-looking, huh?” Kyle teased, amused to see Trent blush. “Is that the Philadelphia General consensus on me?”

Trent put his burger down and took a deep breath. “So were you and Leland Ackerman involved? Are you now? Does he live here? Is he going to show up here?”

The rush of questions showed Kyle just how nervous Trent was. Maybe even more so than he was, and Kyle’s heart galloped to such an extent it felt like it would jump out of his chest at any minute. He moved to Trent’s side and looked directly into his eyes.

“It’s true I moved up here from Baltimore to be with Leland. We first met and became involved while he was doing a fellowship at the hospital where I was working. When his fellowship was up, Leland convinced me to move here with him, where he’d been offered the position as head of the cardiology department. Thinking we had a future together, I quit my job and followed him.”

“What happened?” Trent asked, moving closer to Kyle.

Trent’s nearness and his wonderfully musky, spicy scent was a powerful distraction. However, Kyle was determined to finish, knowing that he needed to clear up any rumours or preconceptions. “Things just changed. Leland wasn’t the same man that he’d been in Baltimore. The power of his new job went to his head, and he became arrogant, rude and condescending. What I thought or wanted didn’t matter anymore. He wanted to call all the shots in our relationship.”

“Like picking out this furniture for you?”

“Exactly. Even though we each had our own places, Leland still wanted to exert his control over my personal space, even though I bought and paid for the condo myself.”

“What an asshole.”

“Yeah, he is. I should have seen it when we were in Baltimore. It would have saved a lot of hassle if I had.”

“I’m sorry about the hassle, but I’m glad you’re here now.” Trent’s mouth curled into a shy smile.

“I’m glad I’m here, too.” Kyle realised it was the first time he’d meant it in months.

As if pulled by a force field, Kyle leaned towards Trent, who, in turn, moved towards him. Their mouths met hesitantly at first, as if both were unsure of what the other wanted. But from the moment he touched Trent’s soft, full lips, Kyle wanted more and he knew there was no way he could stop. And from the massive erection he felt poking against his thigh, he didn’t think there was any turning back for Trent, either.
