No one ever warned her magic came with a price.

Back Cover:

When Callie Rycroft wakes to purple flames on the ceiling, she discovers that not only does the Faery realm exist, but she is the human who must save it. Chosen as Champion by the Faery Queen, Callie is tasked with finding the Cordial, a magical elixir to strengthen the portal between the Human and Faery realms.

The upside? Reece Michaels, the boy she's been crushing on for years, is assigned as her Guardian. Callie hopes by spending time together, he'll start to see her as more than just his best friend's sister.

The downside? She's in a race not only against time, but another Champion and Guardian-a Guardian who stands to threaten her developing relationship with Reece.

Magic, mistaken identities, and hidden agendas are the least of Callie's worries when she learns the Cordial requires a sacrifice. Will Callie be willing to risk all, even Reece, to complete her task as Champion, or will she let the portal fall, destroying both realms?

How did the idea for Faery Marked come to you?

Ironically, it started with me wanting to write a story about a girl highwayman. Except when I sat down to write I kept seeing a girl waking up to purple flames on the ceiling. As I wrote the opening scene, it finally came to me that she was waking to her magic. I thought about going the sorceress route, but then thought, what if she was gifted magic-but by who and why? And from that, FAERY MARKED was born.

I see Faery Marked is Book One of a series. How many books do you have plotted out and how many do you think will ultimately be in the Faery Series?

I planned it to be a trilogy (FAERY MARKED, FAERY CURSED FAERY BOUND). Although I do have a character asking for his own story, which I am happy to do, but it will probably fall in the NA range, rather than YA- mostly due to his age.

Was the title an easy one to come up with or was it one you tossed around?

The title came pretty easy. At first I was going to call it FAERY KISSED, but I found that title was already used, so I changed it to FAERY MARKED. Book two was going to be MAGIC BOUND, but as I got thinking about things, I decided to use FAERY in each title, and given the story lines, I pushed the title of book 2 to book 3.

How different is this series from your Princess of Valendria series?

It is quite different. For starters, it's set in the real world and in Faery. It's told mostly in 1st peron POV by Callie, with chapters set in 3rd person POV from the Faery Queen interspersed through out.
