Nev gasped. Her cheeks grew hot, her stomach roiled as the realization of what she’d done seeped into her. Nev jumped up from the table and ran from the hall. Hualryn yelled her name behind her. That’s why he’d asked where she’d disappeared to. To him, she’d deserted him.
Bástienne the Dark was too tame a designation to encompass the immense wickedness of the man. 
Nev raced through the corridors, running toward her chamber, when all of a sudden a shadow stepped in front of her and she ran into a solid wall of man.
SaBástienne!
He clamped a hand around her upper arm, and the other he slapped over her mouth, to prevent her from screaming, she presumed.
“Which chamber be yours?” he demanded. The expression on his face brooked no argument.
With a quirk of her head she indicated the direction. He dragged her along and into the room.
Once inside, he pressed her against the closed door, one hand still covering her mouth. He then placed a strong forearm over her chest.
Nev was equally afraid and aroused. What is it about this man that makes my body sing?
“You willna yell,” he ordered.
At her nod, he cautiously removed his hand from her mouth.
“Why?” she croaked. Panic over what they’d done, bloomed in her chest. What will Hual do when he finds out? “How could ya?”
“I couldna help meself,” he justified. “Ya looked so good touchin’ yorself, squirmin’ like that for release. Christ, woman, no man woulda been able to resist!”
Although the excuse was flimsy in her estimation, in an odd way, it pleased Nev to no end that a man like Bástienne had wanted her so badly in that moment. Both formidable men wanted her.
“I only meant to aid you in reaching your desired culmination, but then, ya tasted like fine wine...” He groaned, and Nev experienced a hot, wet rush between her legs at his words.
“And ya wanted to be thoroughly loved, cailín, dinna tell me ya didna. I had no idea ya were me brother’s betrothed.”
“But ya did know that I thought ya were him. I called his name!”
“I thought you were merely his whore.” He shrugged.
“Ohh!” she breathed, outraged.
“Ya can cease with the righteous indignation, sweet. Ya canna be that innocent if ya be layin’ with him afore ya are wed. Besides, it be not the first time we have changed places or shared women.”
That angered her even more. Nev jerked her shoulders to gain her freedom, but he held her easily.
“Let me go, ya bastard!” She swung at him, slapping his face so hard her palm stung.
He clenched his jaw. His black eyes turned positively demonic. And for a moment, she feared for her life. Then all of a sudden his lips were on hers, and all rational thought fled. She kissed him in return with utter abandon. Though, she fought him, it was not truly her intent. “Let me go!” she panted.
As soon as he did, she grabbed his head and pulled him more firmly to her, opening her mouth, allowing him full access. Tongues tangling, bodies seeking, gyrating against one another, Nev was lost to the inexplicable allure of this man—the twin to her intended.
She brazenly pushed at his shoulder guiding him downward. In that moment she wanted one thing—to experience his gifted lips on her again.
Although, he took to his knees, he stared up at her. “Tell me what you want, sweeting.”
“I want... I want, uhhh, you to kiss me,” she all but whined, pulling up her skirt, exposing herself to him.
“To kiss ya? Is tha’ all?” He raised his chin and nudged her soft curls, pressing his lips there. She rocked against his mouth.
“Nooo, ya know... what I need. Please!”
“Say it. What do ya want me to do?”
“Your tongue, Bástienne. Please, give me your tongue!” she cried.
