When the allure of the forbidden takes a deadly turn...

Shaye

He never cared about me. He never would. He was always on the take, but this time he took too much. I betrayed my family tonight. I lost my virginity tonight. I was ready to give up this whole life tonight. I loved him, and he treated me like I was no better than the dirt on the bottom of his shoe. One thought makes me smile through the hot tears streaming down my face.

I could have him killed.

Nico

Just plain sex. I tried to convince myself that’s all it was. Except there was nothing plain about what we did that night. I lied to myself about how I feel, and I lied to her when I told her I wanted her to leave. Now I’m dodging calls from her crazy brother, who, if he found out I’d so much as seen her naked, would wrap his hands around my throat and squeeze until my eyeballs popped out of the sockets.

And yeah, I’ve seen my best friend do just that for a hell of a lot less.

As a deep-rooted romantic who prefers juicy drama to fill the lives of anyone other than her, she tried her hand at creating a world of enchantment, sensuality, and intrigue, finally uncovering her true passion. No pun intended…

You have a lot of responsibilities now, Nico.

My grandfather’s voice drifts back into my conscious. I’d love to have a few more minutes with him to figure out why the hell he ever got involved with this shit in the first place.

I want it all, but can I have it all? That’s the magic question, one I have yet to answer for myself. Seems like any direction I go will lead to a dead end. And someone’s gonna have the barrel of a gun pointed directly at me.

Shaye is right. I love what I do. I love having the freedom to make decisions, to build businesses from scratch and watch the money pour into them as time passes. I love having people at my beck and call, people who are anxious to do me favors because they sense the power and control I have — things that they want for themselves, things they know I can provide them. I love knowing that I can do whatever I please and get whatever I want at any time. I’ve worked my ass off for those privileges, and they don’t come cheap. I’ve done my time. I’ve watched and learned. I’ve been groomed for this position. People put a lot of trust and faith in my ability to make them money, and I never disappoint.

But despite everything I’ve achieved, I know there’s always someone lurking, positioned to pull the rug out from under me because he thinks he can do it better. I pay for protection, just as my father does, but that doesn’t mean someone else’s money isn’t just as green. Loyalty is fleeting. If someone comes along with a grand plan and a hell of a lot of cash behind him, my good looks and charm won’t be able to protect my position for too long.

Grandpa made sure to keep me front and center, letting everyone know, in no uncertain terms, that his protégé would eventually carry on his legacy. But for as strong as I appear to be, I know I’m vulnerable. We all are. All it takes is one bullet and someone with a motive.

#MySexySaturday Sexy saves the day...

Welcome to the 181st week of My Sexy Saturday

This week's theme: Sexy Saves the Day

Enjoy this snip from Running
(The Always Cambridge Series book 2)

The mob boss's daughter saves SSA Orton yet
again...

Lorenzo leaned against the rail watching his prey. “Get a sheet of plastic or a tarp or something. Vicki’s a little obsessive compulsive when it comes to the cleanliness of his precious boat. I have a feeling this is gonna get messy.”

The man hanging limply in the chair, with the help of two goons holding him upright, whimpered.

“Christ, Lorie. Stop this now. I’d rather you were using my boat to run drugs or something. He’s still alive. You can still stop this," Victor pleaded.

“And why would I want to stop this, Vicki?”

I was so intent on the people in front of me that I almost let the guard’s light hit me again. He was just about on top of me when something pinged across the deck hitting the opposite rail. Luckily. it send the guard in the opposite direction.

“That’s the second time tonight I’ve saved your ass,” Holly hissed.

I looked in the direction of her voice had come from. “Where the hell are you?” I jeered back.

“I'm in the life boat," she whispered, harshly.

I rolled across the deck. “How did you get in there? I didn’t even see you.”

The whiteness of her teeth shone in the darkness as she grinned at me. “No shit, Elliott Ness. That was the idea.”

#MySexySaturday The mob boss's daughter is sexy and strong... A Snip from Always Cambridge

Welcome to the 179th week of My Sexy Saturday

The rules:
Post 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs of a WIP or published work

This Week's theme: Sexy and Strong

Today I'm sharing an excerpt from Running the second book in the Always Cambridge Series. This snip has been edited slightly to fit the MSS Rules a bit better, but you'll get the gist. Miss Holly is strong in mind, body and spirit and it doesn't go unnoticed by Federal Agent, Alex.

“What have I done?” Her expression perplexed, she cocked her head to the side. “You think I’ve done something?” In a split second her features turned from weepy to resentment. “Like what? Stolen something? Used the Bureau to steal information? Ohhh!” She made a strangled sound and her nostrils flared. Tears coursed down her face unchecked now in her anger. “I thought we were over this!” She dumped the contents of her bag out onto my desk. Her laptop hit the desktop with a dull thud. She was mumbling away in exasperation, not making a whole lot of sense, until she turned to me.

“What? Not good enough. You want to frisk me too?” The unbidden thought popped into my head that I probably wouldn’t mind. She was really pissed. She tore off her sweatshirt, her hair flying everywhere as she tangled with it. She threw it to the floor.

She wore a tight t-shirt beneath. She lifted it as well giving me a glimpse of the camisole under that. It was lacy and feminine. Like her. She patted, pulling it up exposing her pale smooth flesh. As she pulled up her shirts I could see the tape that she used to secure her phone. In her anger she ripped it from her delicate skin and I cringed at the angry red welt it left. She fired the phone onto the desk. Turning in a circle she patted down each leg of her jeans. She shook out her legs. “Are you satisfied or would you like to call a female agent?”

I stood there stupidly staring at her. I was at a loss and that never happened to me. I knew how to handle every situation. I’d been wrong, and I felt like shit about it, but I couldn’t make myself think beyond her amazingly toned body and the glimpses of creamy flesh she'd  just flashed me. I swallowed hard. She was thin, but she was fit. She worked out. Hard. She didn’t work out to stay thin or to keep that nice little body. She worked her body like she worked her mind. To keep it sharp and ready for any possibility. She looked incredible standing there, her chest heaving in her fury, her hair all mussed with static. I wanted to reach out and smooth it. But I knew she wouldn’t welcome that. More like, she’d rather take another round out of me. But I realized, I was up for that too.

My main concern for now was getting my mind off her body...

#MySexySaturday Victor, Holly's dark sexy forbidden soul mate #AlwaysCambridge

Welcome to the 161st week of My Sexy Saturday

This week’s theme: My Sexy Soul Mate

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

An excerpt from Misfortune of Birth
[Always Cambridge 3]

“Is she still alive?”

“We think so.”

“Well, that's just fantastic, Alex! The FBI fucking thinks so.”

“Making friends again, Holly? They can hear you.”

“I’m well aware. The whole fuckin’ world can hear me and watch me. And you know what, Alex, for once I don’t give a fuck about this goddamn case!”

I hung up and sought refuge in the bathroom. I took one look in the mirror and started to cry, for many reasons, the least of which was the condition of my face. I wanted out. I couldn’t do this anymore. Especially to Victor. I’d come into this with every intention of making things better for myself and for him, but I’d done nothing but fuck things up. And now, I’d fallen in love with him. In love? Really? I stared at my own shocked reflection in the mirror. How could this be? I loved Randy. I would love Randy always. I crumbled to the floor and sobbed. And with my eyes shut I no longer saw Randy, my fair-haired beautiful saviour. I saw Victor. My dark and forbidden soul mate.

#MySexySaturday He has a sexy way about him... A snip from #AlwaysCambridge

Welcome to the 160th week of My Sexy Saturday

This week’s theme: Sexy Has Its Way

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

This week an excerpt from the first book in The Always Cambridge Series. When Holly meets Victor Mayhue for the first time, he's a bit overwhelming for the sheltered mob princess, oh and he's also from a rival family. She should be frightened but instead, she's fascinated, but little does she know, so is he.

He grinned crookedly, extending his hand, offering to help me rise. I thought it was sweet. I reached placing my left hand into his big outstretched palm, accepting his offer of help. I knew by the size of his hand that he would tower over me, but most people did. His hand was warm, I noted again as I rose to my feet. Everyone in the store had moved away from us, and there was no longer a line. It was as if we were the only two people in the store. I thought briefly that was strange, with the holiday crowds.

“Thank you for your help,” I said, letting go of his hand, finally able to look up at him, full on. As I’d suspected, he was tall and broad shouldered. I focused on his face. Oh. My. God! He was gorgeous. His dark hair was perfectly sculpted but messy enough that you wanted to reach out and tame it. As I noted before, his eyes were dark and warm. His perfectly sculpted cheeks covered by a slight five o’clock shadow. Beautiful full lips complete with a dimple that appeared on his cheek as he continued to grin at me. He must be used to this kind of reaction. He was bemused, now, by my staring. But I couldn’t help it. He was stunning. If Randy was the most beautiful man in the world to me, then I had no words for this guy.

And he knew it. He knew exactly what affect he had on me, on most women, I presumed. He looked like the kind of guy who got what he wanted and didn’t have to wait or work at it to get it. He reminded me of the Greek or Roman God, I couldn’t even remember which one at the moment, who was too dazzling to look at, just too beautiful to bear. Even this guy’s skin was flawless and such an amazing warm colour, like he had a permanent tan.

“No problem. My pleasure,” he said.

Oh crap, I couldn’t remember what we’d been talking about. That line from Romeo and Juliet was running through my head. ‘And when I shall die, take him and cut him up in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will fall in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun.’

His grin turned crooked giving him a mischievous-boy look. I bit my lip, racking my brain for something to say. His focus dropped to my lips and I suddenly felt warm all over. Wow! He was something else. Something I had no idea how to handle. I should probably get away from him, but I didn’t really want to.

#MySexySaturday Holly and Victor have their own kind of sexy magic...

Welcome to the 159th week of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: My Sexy Magic

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

This week a snip from the third book in the Always Cambridge Series, Misfortune of Birth. Holly and Victor have their own kind of magic.

Excerpt

I woke to an aching back and a beautiful woman on my chest. “Well, hello,” I whispered. I couldn’t help but smile. I wanted to laugh out loud. Do the fist pump. I got her. Mission accomplished. I’d never had to wait this long for any woman. I felt like I’d achieved something that I’d been waiting for.

And after all that, she was still wearing her blouse. I chuckled. Never even got that far. I’d only managed to get the buttons undone. It was sheer. I could see right through it. I ran a finger down her arm and she sighed. I traced my finger back up her arm, over her shoulder, over the slope of her breast and I let it run the outline of her bra.

I smiled again as the little bumps shot across her skin. She was exceedingly sensitive to my touch. I liked it. It made me feel like a demon. I could just wave my hand or stroke her, and like magic she was ready for me. I let the pad of my thumb run across her breast and her nipple hardened. She moved against me then peered up at me.

“I’m not dreaming,” she whispered.

Did she really dream about me? That was the second time she’d used the word dream. She’d said something similar that miserable night in my apartment. “Nope. Sorry. It’s the real thing.”

She propped up on her elbow and looked down at me. She skimmed her palm over my chest. “Well real thing, if this is my one night in Vegas, I’d rather not waste any more time.”

“It doesn’t have to be just tonight...

#MySexySaturday Sexy Crush - a snip from #romanticsuspense Always Cambridge

Welcome to the 151st week of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: My Sexy Crush

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

This week's theme is perfect for the Always Cambridge series. Here's a snip from the first book in the series...

I’d always thought it was sweet that she had a crush on me. Yeah, I knew. You’d have to be blind not to see that. It gave me a giant ego boost. But I never encouraged it. I kept things professional. But in the last few weeks, I’d learned so much more about her. Gotten to really know her. It had become personal. I shouldn’t have let it, but it was impossible. She was an incredible person. She was innocent and sweet. Giving and forgiving. Young in some ways, but so mature in others. She was caught in this world not of her making, trying her damnedest to live a good life and be a good person. And what did it get her? Why were we sitting here like this?

I rested my forehead on her arm as I played with her fingers. “Holly,” I called for the hundredth time. The nurse said to talk to her, and physical stimulation might help too, to bring her out of the unconsciousness. I ran my fingertips softly up and down her arm.

“God! Holly! Please wake up!” I hadn’t prayed in…Well, I’m not sure if I’ve ever actually prayed for anything in my life. But I asked whoever was up there looking after beautiful souls like hers to please bring her back. She had so much to give, so much life to live. She was so incredibly smart and good. Would God not want her here doing the good things only she could do? Please send her back to me. I’ll change. I’ll try to be good. Like her. For her. Please. My eyes stung.

#MySexySaturday I wanted this, every night for the rest of my life. #AlwaysCambridge

Welcome to the 143rd week of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: Come and Get My Sexy

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

This week’s theme is Come and Get My Sexy. You all know what to do, and you know how to do it as well as the fact, we want to read it!

A sexy snip from Always Holly Book Six in the Always Cambridge Series

Later, Holly reclined on the big pillows in my new bed. She was partially covered by a sheet, her lovely breasts exposed. She looked like a Grecian Goddess, with a glass of wine in her hand, as I fed her grapes from the basket.

She seemed extremely comfortable and slightly sleepy, but incredibly sexy. And I didn’t want to spook her or jinx it but she looked—dare I think it—at home. It was perfect. Like a dream.

I wanted this. Every night for the rest of my life. Huh. Wow. Victor Mayhue, settling down with one woman for the rest of his life. This woman. The one I’d waited my entire life for and had to let go. We had a second chance, and I didn’t want to waste another minute.

“What are you smiling at?” she asked, reaching for a grape and placing it near my lips.

“You. You look sexy as all fuck in auld Kilgour’s bed.”

She giggled and my heart stuttered. “T’isna auld Kilgour’s bed anamore. T’is auld Victor’s now,” she joked in a perfect brogue.

I took the wine glass from her and set it on the night-table. “Old? I’ll show you old!” I levered myself over her...

The Always Cambridge Series chronicles the life of Holly Cambridge through her tumultuous childhood, violent teen years, into adulthood, and the consequences that stem from being the daughter of mob boss, Bill Cambridge.

Caught up in a bitter blood feud with the rival Mayhue family and unable to bear the violence that claimed her mother, Holly sets out to right her father's wrongs. But instead she embarks on an epic journey of sex, love, loss, tragedy and life-altering choi

Can Holly distance herself and the ones she loves, from the violence and corruption she abhors, or will she discover a truth she's feared all along ... Mob life is forever!
